» CityLab Exhibition – New Ideas for the City
CityLab is not your usual conference, congress, festival or seminar. We are not planning an urban revolution, nor are we trying to create a digital city of the future. On the other hand, CityLab is a node in a complex network of people, narratives and institutions that create the culture of the place, a temporary space where people from different backgrounds meet to work together on new ideas and alternatives for the city. Check out our programme. -
» CityLab Symposium
CityLab is an interdisciplinary meeting of designers, researchers and activists, working together on new ideas and solutions for the city. During the symposium, we present our projects designed for Katowice and discuss the future of smart cities. Our speakers include: Edwin Bendyk, Christopher Burke, Verena Gerlach, Grzegorz Młynarski, Marek Kultys, Studio NAND. [Check out the programme] -
» Open Data Day in Katowice
Upon its 2012 accession to the global open data movement, Medialab Katowice initially followed the example set by the most innovative cities in trying to create a directory and open database for the city. » VOM PHOTO
VOM PHOTO is not your usual photography exhibition. From its conception, the project was designed as an artistic, research and educational undertaking and as such is accompanied by a publication and workshops held successively in different parts of Europe. Before it appeared in Katowice, the exhibition had been shown in a number of notable venues across the continent, including the Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bonn, Photography Biennial in Thessaloniki and Sofia Arsenal Museum for Contemporary Art. VOM PHOTO’s conceptual approach to photography as well as its open and experimental nature proved to be a perfect addition to the range of projects pursued by Medialab Katowice.
